Site of the week!

Posted by wars128 on July 28, 2007

I apologize for not having anything on thursday or wednesday, things just got busy for me then. On to Site of the week. This website is run by a guy who frequents the TRO42 forum on the dropship command forums. here is his website: http://kayjaygee.tripod.com/TRO/TRO/TRO.htm
This guy has nifty designs, and does good 3-D Modeling for each design, which I really enjoy. He does all types of things, from Mechs, to vees, to aerospace, etc, etc. This is a great site with some great designs. Check it out!

Tech Tuesday!

Posted by wars128 on July 24, 2007

Welcome to tech tuesday, where I talk about and give my opinion of MaxTech and Total Warfare Tech. Right now your probably thinking: “Is he going to do something for each day?”
Well, here is what I have planned:
Mon: Mech Monday
Tues: Tech Tues
wed: Weapon Wednesday, where I talk about why I like or dislike a certain weapon
Thurs: possibly Tank thursday….
Fri: It would be great if someone who is into Aerotech would want to guest post on this day..could be Fighter Friday?Hmm?hmm?
Either Sat or sun: Site __, where I review a Batletech related site.
I probablly wont be able to do all of these each week, but I hope to do atleast 3 a week.
If anyone would like to guest post for any of these topics, just send me an email!
And now back to Tech Tues. Todays item is comming from the Max Tech book. It is Laser Anti Missile System. During the old(BMR)rules, the regular AMS was pretty much a joke, unless it was used on lighter mechs aginst lighter emchs, when it could actually make some diffrence. With the new rules, the LAMS is not as seen as favorably as before, but still has its uses. If you have a very low heat design, say, a mech relying on guass Rifles, for instance, and can afford the up to 12 extra heat points, then go for it, otherwise, dont bother. If you still play by the BMr rules, then this is a viable alternative to the regular AMS. Warning: on vehicles this will take up 13.5 tons, mostly due to heat sinks…
so there you have it, the very first tech tuesday!

Mech Monday Part 2

Posted by wars128 on July 23, 2007

I was thinking about something someone had said on the ClassicBattletech.com forums. They had said that light mechs are becoming obsolete on the modern battlefield. I’m not 100% sure about this. Of course, with the advent of XL engines medium mechs can equal the speeds of the light mechs of old, but now the light mechs can be even faster too. And also, even if they become nigh unusable, TPTB will make some rule to make them usable again. Also, even if they are taken away, that means that medium mechs would be the lightest. Something always has to be the smallest, so lets just leave it how it is…

Mech Monday!

Posted by wars128 on July 23, 2007

Here it is, the first inagural Mech Monday!
During mech Monday I will talk about mechs!
Today I will be covering Inner Sphere light mechs. what I would like to see, is a custom design with a larger LRM launcher than a 10. Imagine it, a highly mobile (unfourtunatyly to get good speed would need an XL or light engine. I am guessing though, that Mercs would eat it up, since it is hard to get really good light fire support, and the ones that re available are not available to all. It would go really well with units that were composed oif mostly light mechs, and would be cheaper and fater tthan buying a much larger mech that couldn’t keep up with everyone else/fit in witrh thier doctrine.

Well, there it is! If you have any suggestions on what I should talk about on next Mech Monday or anything else, please email me at mecheadpodcast@yahoo.com
