The Ultimate Urban Combat Team!(Part 1)

Posted by wars128 on August 20, 2007

I like urban combat. Maybe thats because 2 of my favorite weapons are LPLs and LBX-AC 20s…
any ways, here are the designs that feel are worthy, and why. Feel free to leave comments about this, or suggest others!
3025
UrbanMech-Everyone loves the Urbie!!!
Panther– This mech thrives in urban combat.
Enforcer-Decent mobility, and nice weapons choices..
Hatchetman-That big axe.
Hunchback-No Brainer…
Wyvern-strange set of weapons, but boy do they work!
Anihilator-the 4 AC-10s!
Highlander-Having 90 tons coming crashing down onto you via the Highlander Burial!
Victor-AC-20 + jumpjets= yummy!
Thats it for now. The only designs I choose were ones designed for urban combat, not ones that simply ened up being used for it. Next up will cover level two IS designs!

MOTW: Why quads aren’t liked very much

Posted by wars128 on August 20, 2007

Quads have their pluses, but also their minuses. i took me a try or two before I figured out how to use one. The flaws that a quad has can greatly undo you. Take, for instance, the lack of arms. That may not seem to be so bad, but having no arms means having no arm bracket weapons to fire. If you don’t win the initiative, it is harder for a person playing as a quad, because you have to watch your sides as well as your back. That, in my opinion is the most glaring problem with quads, but it is not one that is so bad that you shouldn’t use quads. As long as a quad has all four legs, it is very hard to get knocked over by, say, a +20 point hit. That can be very useful…
In conclusion, when you play with quads you have to think a little differently with them. If you have never used one before, try one. You may end up preferring it.

Site of the week!

Posted by wars128 on August 19, 2007

I just got back from a great trip last night. If any of you all ever come to Tennessee, be sure to go to Pickwick Lake. Its an absolutly beautiful area, with lots of room for watersports.
Now, back to site of the week. This weeks site is one that a lot of you already know about, but if you don’t know about it you schould!
It has been around under variuos names, but right now it is http://www.Mechground.com
It is a great site! imagine, for instance, that you dont have the money to get every single TRO. You can just look at the ones that you dont have on the site. Nice, huh? It even has the Upgraded TROs, such as 3050:U, but does not have stats yet, but it does have the pictures!
www.mechground.comgets a 5 out of 5!
If you have any comments, suggestions, feedback, etc,
you can send them to mecheadpodcast at yahoo.com
May all your hits be crits!

Its School time , yet again

Posted by wars128 on August 17, 2007

In about 6 days, I will be moving into my dorm room. In 10 days school will start again. hopefully, with me now being on an actuall schedule i’ll do shows more often. With my sister going off to her college, it means no more fancy computer..for awhile, atleast, hopefully. I may be getting a new computer finally sometime this semester, which I am overjoyed at!
If school and life in general does not make me too busy, here are some thing I am planning to do this semester, podcast wise:
1. Get a domain name, which would point to the blog.
2. Either get more hosting from my podcast provider, or get hosting here an have up just all the really old shows.
3. Try to have those Chats agaiin.
4. To have a megaMek tournament, If I can figure out how to do that.
Thats it for now, but Ill probablly be adding more things onto here.
Have a great day,
Sam

A change of schedule…

Posted by wars128 on August 16, 2007

I just came up with a funny idea. In honor of school stating soon, Thursday will be the day that you will find novel/sourcebook/TRO reviews on this site. Why thursday? Because in honor of..oh wait…that actually dosent work…oh well, it still works I guess.
todays book will be a TRO, the 3025R one, to be exact. This is the first TRo I ever had, and is needed if you plan to do any level one battles. It is simply a classic, feturing many of everyones favorite mechs, such as the Awesome, Atlas, Stalker, etc. A must buy, all most. And the cover just rocks!
My Rating: 5 Timber Wolfs out of 5

Weapon Wednesday!

Posted by wars128 on August 1, 2007

Heres weapon Wednesday, and I hope to have the newest podcast up as well sometime today.
Inner Sphere Pulse Lasers
I think IS pulse lasers get a bad rap. On the offical classicbattletech forums, t seems that no one likes them there. They are constantly being bashed, saying the clans ones are so much better. I say, well of course they are1 there the freaking clans! If you compare hem to eachother, of course the clans ones are better , but you have to pay attention to use. Most clanners still fight other clanners, not spheriods, so the Clan pulse laser can be considered short ranged, when it is in its own element. Compared to other IS weapons, the IS pulse lasers are not as bad as everyone says they are versus IS opponents.
